Elder: Symbol of wellbeing
For a long time, it was one of the most important herbs of everyday life, sometimes dubbed lovingly the "medicine satchel of the countryside". People felt protected in its vicinity, within the beneficial aura of its power as a protective, healing and nutrifying tree.
The strong scent and its creamy white blossoms appear in June in flat bell shaped forms and give elderberry syrup its unmistakable flavour. The deep purple berries in autumn prepare us for the cold season which is approaching, strengthening our nervous and immune systems.
